LOAN AGAINST WATCHES

Where to Get a Loan Against a Luxury Watch

Asset-backed loans against luxury watches — Rolex, Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Richard Mille, Cartier, Vacheron Constantin, A. Lange & Söhne. Up to 65% LTV.

What Is a Luxury Watch Collateral Loan?

A luxury watch collateral loan lets you borrow cash using a high-value timepiece as security. You bring the watch to a licensed lender, who appraises it and advances a loan against its wholesale fair market value. You keep ownership — when you repay principal plus interest, the watch comes back to you. The lender holds the watch in a secure, insured vault for the duration of the term.

This is different from selling. Selling at auction or to a dealer ends your ownership permanently. A collateral loan lets you access your watch's value without parting with it long-term.

Where You Can Get a Loan Against a Luxury Watch

Several types of lenders offer watch-backed loans. The right choice depends on how much you want to borrow, how quickly you need funds, and how important it is that the lender understands your specific reference.

Lender type Typical LTV Speed to funds Credit check? Watch outcome
Specialist watch lender Set out in writing by the licensed lender before you sign Set out in writing by the licensed lender before you sign Set out in writing by the licensed lender before you sign Returned on repayment
General pawn shop Typically lower Same day or next day No Returned on repayment
Bank / personal loan Not applicable (unsecured) 30+ days Yes Watch not involved
Auction / private sale Varies with hammer price Weeks to months No Watch is sold permanently

A specialist watch lender applies reference-level pricing — understanding, for example, which Rolex dial colors carry a premium, or that a discontinued Audemars Piguet reference commands a different valuation than a current-production piece. That depth of market knowledge typically results in a higher loan offer than a general lender who may price conservatively to account for unfamiliarity.

Other fine Swiss complications may qualify.

How Much Can You Borrow? LTV Ratios Explained

Watch loans run 50–65% of wholesale fair market value. The final figure depends on:

Bringing original box and papers — or a provenance document from a major auction house — gives the lender more to verify when it appraises the watch. Patek Philippe references are placed in the highest-LTV tier. See the full LTV breakdown →

The Loan Process Step by Step

  1. Email photos. Send 4–6 clear photos of your watch with the reference number, condition notes, and any documentation (box, papers, certificates) to hi@luxuryassetloans.com.
  2. Preliminary range. You receive a loan range based on the photos and current market data. No obligation at this stage.
  3. In-person appraisal. The final loan amount is confirmed at a California appraisal location — Santa Monica, Baldwin Park, Lancaster, or Fresno. Out-of-state clients use the travel program for in-person appraisal in California.
  4. The watch goes into the vault.
